Third largest of the Greek Ionian islands after Corfu and Kefalonia, Zante (Zakynthos) is often referred to as "The Island of Dreams" with its three distinct landscapes and vibrant beaches offering great diversity for the holiday maker. The North and West coasts are mainly deserted and have beautiful mountains.

 

The central lush green foothills resemble parts of Tuscany's colourful rolling hills and red-roofed hamlets while the popular East and South coasts have everything a holiday maker could wish for with sandy beaches, nightlife, taverna’s and all that is Greek.

The “blue flag” beach is renowned as one of the best on the island boasting a fantastic view of Kefalonia just eight miles away.

There are plenty of other places to visit on the Island such as the famous shipwreck or the Blue Caves. The turtle beaches are also of particular interest during the egg laying season and Zante Town has its own culture for you to explore.

 

If you should manage to exhaust the activities on Zante Island, there are boat cruises allowing you to explore the surrounding islands and mainland Greece too.
